The Best Places To Buy Autumnal Homeware

Saturday, 14 October 2017

If there's one thing better than homeware it's autumn and halloween themed homeware. Yes, my two favourite things in life combined into one. There's a box in the back of my wardrobe full of halloween and autumnal home accessories and I can't wait to put them around my room as soon as October 1st comes around. Every shop has a corner full of the red and orange hues, pinecones and woodland themed home bits. Not to mention the glittery pumpkins, spooky skulls and black cat halloween party accessories. I just love it all.

A Few Important Thoughts On Mental Health

Tuesday, 10 October 2017

Whilst starting this impromptu post, I'm cwtched up in bed under my duvet and mega soft throw with the fairy lights on and a cup of tea nestled on top of my current read, "Fangirl". Major cosiness. Today is mental health awareness day and although I didn't plan to be posting, it's one of those nights where I just need to sit and write.

Let's Talk: The Perils Of Periods

Monday, 9 October 2017

I've never been one to shy away from talking about "awkward" topics. When it comes to girly chats about periods, boobs and all that fun stuff I have no filter. It's just not a taboo for me. They're the most normal and natural of things about us so I've never fully understood why people think speaking about them is gross. Of course there's a time and a place, I wouldn't bring up my period at the dinner table with family (although I won't lie, I probably have before), but they're very normal things and happen to all us girls.

The Magic Of Autumn

Thursday, 5 October 2017

If you were to ask me what my favourite season was, I wouldn't hesitate saying autumn. I've always loved autumn, long before loving autumn was the big thing, when everyone loved summer the best. I'm all about being cosy and look forward to October, November and December months in advance. The colours, cold weather and halloween! When planning blog post ideas for October I thought this would be a nice addition; a roundup of all the things I love about this highly anticipated time of year.

Autumn Makeup Bag

Sunday, 1 October 2017

This is without a doubt my favourite time of year. I'm that friend who talks about October, November and December throughout the summer. Cosy jumpers, hot chocolates, bonfires and HALLOWEEN. Just the best time of year.
I always look forward to autumnal makeup too. Copper eyeshadows and dark lipsticks make my heart happy. My skin pays the price though and is usually bone dry and pale so I have to alter what I use to change that.

Picture Perfect Pier

Sunday, 24 September 2017

One of my favourite things about where I live is having the pier within walking distance of my house. You can the pier and lighthouse perfectly from my bedroom window but it's about a 15 minute walk along the promenade. Everything is so photogenic whether it's overcast (like in these photos) or bright and sunny. You've got the arcade and cute 1920's seaside themed cafe conjoined together and there are a few smaller gift shops dotted around. The cafe is so cool and has around 6 of the enormous vintage chandeliers which I think are the originals. It has such a nice vibe with a self playing piano sounding out piano jazz. It's so nice to sit in the bench booths by the window and eat their amazing sundaes. So dreamy. It would be the perfect date setting (if only I wasn't so very very single).

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette

Tuesday, 19 September 2017

After months of trying to stop myself from making this purchase, I gave in. I have no will power. It was only £18 though which I think is a right bargain but I didn't really need it. I've used to be someone who didn't buy unnecesarily (cuz I'm mega tight with money) and I would only buy a new palette/makeup item until I'd used up the previous one. Like for example, I won't try a new foundation until I've run out of my current one. I've accumulated quite a few eyeshadow palettes and I hate the thought of having a load that are just sat in my draw collecting dust because I've bought a newer one. I'm telling myself it's good to have options though so I don't have buyers remorse. I mean, can a person have too many eyeshadow palettes?

Things I Wish I'd Been Taught In School

Friday, 15 September 2017

Ahh school. Everyone's favourite place. For me, secondary school was just about bearable and I came away with a good set of GCSEs (not blowing my own trumpet or anything). Now I'm in college, things are a little less personal and you only show up for your hourly lecture and that's it. You choose what you learn. There are some really important things that were never taught at school that I think would have been really helpful. Here are 5 of them:

Easy At-Home Hair Dye Kit | Garnier Olia Hair Colour Review

Friday, 8 September 2017

I wish I was someone who was brave enough to change my hair often. I had a sudden urge about 3 years ago when I decided to dip dye my hair bleach blonde but that's about it. I bought one of those Bleach London Ombre kits and me and my sister pretended to know what we were doing in my room one evening. Even though she did a pretty good job, it definitely wasn't the pinterest ombre I'd been hoping for. I loved it for about a week but then completely despised it and wondered why on earth I ever wanted to do it.

No Bake Peanut Butter Protein Bites

Saturday, 2 September 2017

I'm well and truly on the "no bake bar" bandwagon. I'm obsessed. It was actually my Mum who found this recipe and was the first to test it but after coming home from work one day to be her guinea pig taste tester (I'm not complaining) I was amazed. I love peanut butter so these are definitely my cup of tea but all of the ingredients combined make them so so yummy. They are so simple with only 4 ingredients and are full of protein.

Affordable Glow: Goddess Of Faith Highlighter

Sunday, 27 August 2017

I've never really been someone who enjoys summer. I hate that the whole of Britain turns into a giant roasting tin. IT'S TOO HOT. Summer means I'm sweaty, my skin is an oily mess, hayfever kills me slowly, and not even a fan can save me from the night's heat and help me sleep. Give me cold Autumn weather any day. Thankfully, living in Wales means we don't really see crazy hot summer weather often but when we do it's unbearable.

Let's Talk: Techniques For Improving Sleep

Wednesday, 23 August 2017

I can't tell you how many times I've googled "how to get a good nights sleep". For the past few years sleep has been a huge issue for me. I wake up at least 3 times a night and can often be lying awake for more than an hour. I feel like I've tried everything for helping my sleeping pattern. Herbal sleep aids, pillow sprays, natural relaxation spotify playlists. AND NONE OF IT WORKS FOR ME. However, since seeing a therapist for anxiety and depression, I've learnt a lot about sleep and how to improve the quality of it. It's something that I really focus on in CBT because it has a huge impact on my mood and can often make my anxiety worse. Here are some things that help a better nights sleep (well for me anyway, but it could help you as well).

Healthy Chinese Fakeaway Chow Mein Recipe

Sunday, 20 August 2017

Before you ask, no it's not a pan of worms and cat poo although it kind of does look like it. Today I want to share a recipe my Mum and I tried the other day that I'm absolutely obsessed with. It's this chow mein recipe that's healthy but actually tastes like normal chow mein. It's a slimming world recipe so it's syn free and low fat. My sister made it and brought some over for us to try and I couldn't believe how similar it was to the chow mein you'd buy at the chinese takeaway. So we made some a few days ago and I felt like everyone needs to know about this recipe.

An Eventful Week Up North

Sunday, 13 August 2017

Ahhh it feels good to be back. Although it's only been 4 days, I feel as though I've been gone for ages. If you don't follow my social medias you won't know that this week I visited family in Lancashire. Because they live away, we rarely see them so visiting them was something we'd been looking forward to for months. They're the most warm-hearted lovely people so whenever we spend time together we just have the best time. Although I was really excited, the prospect of leaving Lola for a week was horrible. I never knew how much you could become attached to a pet. Seeing family was so nice and we had a well needed catch-up but the trip didn't exactly go to plan. Well, not at all actually. It went a bit tits up.

Primark Homeware Haul

Friday, 11 August 2017

I'M FINALLY BLOGGING ABOUT SOMETHING INTERIOR RELATED!! It's been a long time coming. At the moment I'm re-decorating my bedroom so I've been non-stop pinning photos of different colour schemes, furniture and homeware accessories. All the things I love. Anyone who knows me (and follows my 7 different interior design pinterest boards) will know I'm OBSESSED with anything home design related. I can't get enough of it. I'm always planning what my future home will look like and have so many ideas I can't wait to put into practise.

Ultimate Summer Roadtrip Playist

Sunday, 6 August 2017

There's nothing nicer than chilling out in the garden trying desperately to catch a tan, listening to music and drinking ice cold drinks. Living in Wales means these occasions are a once in a blue moon experience that tend to be quite rare in the Summer months. I've always had a Summer playlist with songs that I imagine myself listening to on holiday or when in the car when the sun is shining. Tomorrow I'm visiting Lancashire for the week to see family and although I'm SO excited, the 4 and a half hour drive doesn't sound appealing to me. I have my headphones in when I'm in the car every time without fail, even more so when I'm on long journeys so I've put together a playlist of what people call "feel good tunes" that I plan to listen to. 4 and a half hours. God help me.

Snippets Of My Month: July 2017

Tuesday, 1 August 2017

I say it every time but I can't quite believe that another month has passed me by. I think that doing these monthly reflective posts is making me notice how quickly the months are whizzing by. It's scary that we're already more than half way through 2017. It feels like it's only just begun. It's august now though, which means one thing. IT'S NEARLY AUTUMN. I don't care much for summer and usually start picturing autumn and winter right about now, as bizarre as that sounds.

2 Eyeopening Non-Fictions You Need To Read

Sunday, 30 July 2017

As much as I enjoy a good fiction that I can get lost in a story and follow the journey of characters, non-fictions provide me with just as much joy. There's nothing better than finishing a book and coming away with knowledge you didn't possess before. Books are the best way to learn. They can be so enlightening and thought provoking and can give you a real insight into current affairs to deepen your understanding of how the world works. Today I wanted to share two books I found especially informative and eye opening.

A Change In Direction

Friday, 28 July 2017

Usually, I'm somebody who absolutely hates change and finds "different" an unsettling idea. Little by little I'm trying to alter that and I'm trying to push myself out of my comfort zone with little things in my life. Since starting blogging at the beginning of this year I've constantly changed my mind on things and how I want my blog to be. I've changed themes about 4 times because I get bored of the same old one and can never decide on a header image or name.

The £3 Rayban Dupe

Thursday, 27 July 2017

Who doesn't love when a brand makes a similar product to one another with the only major difference being the much cheaper price tag. Yay for dupes. Although I'm all for companies taking inspiration from another companies product and making a cheaper version, I don't totally agree with people claiming to be selling the legit item but it turns out being a fake. Especially with makeup on places like Ebay and Amazon because you never really know which ingredients are being thrown in there and they could be harmful. Also not to mention they're completely ripping off the original manufacturer and misleading people.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums

Saturday, 22 July 2017

Like many people, I couldn't live without music. That sounds deep but it just wouldn't be possible.
It's something that hugely impacts my mood and I listen to it everyday without fail whether that's on my phone, on the radio, or on TV. It's everywhere. It can motivate me, pick me up when I'm feeling low, or can make me feel like I'm singing my heart out to an audience in the O2.

Liebster Award Q&A

Wednesday, 19 July 2017

On the weekend I was nominated to do the Liebster Award twice by the lovely Olivia from TheLittleStep, and Rachel from RachelEmmaBlog. I'll be honest, I had no clue what this in the beginning but after a little research I came to love the whole idea. Since I was nominated twice, I decided to answer both sets of questions.

Morphe 25B Bronzed Mocha Palette

Sunday, 16 July 2017

I'm unbelievably excited to be writing this post. Just because this might be my favourite palettes I've ever used. The shades are me to a tee and it's the only thing I've been using in terms of eyeshadow since it arrived last week. I just know I'll be using it non-stop throughout Autumn as well.

My Trustee Fake Eyelashes

Wednesday, 12 July 2017

My favourite part of doing my makeup has always been mascara. Eyelashes make any look for me and can completely change your face. One thing I've been fortunately blessed with is long eyelashes that are quite curled so I tend to go for fake eyelashes that only really contribute to volume.

June Playlist

Monday, 10 July 2017

June was a strange month. It was full of so many highs and lows, looking back I can't quite believe so much was crammed into just 4 weeks. I'm looking forward to a clean slate though. A fresh start and a brand new month to get stuck into.

Nip+Fab Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Saturday, 8 July 2017

I was so happy to hear that Nip+Fab were bringing out makeup and I was desperate to try their liquid lipsticks after seeing the gorgeous nude shades. I only bought 2 but I definitely plan on buying more because I'm so impressed with them.

June Favourites 2017

Thursday, 6 July 2017

I haven't done a monthly favourites in a longggg time. February to be exact. I told myself that I'd try and upload them regularly but honestly, the months are just flying by so quickly that I either forget or don't try enough products throughout the month that are worth raving about.

Let's Talk: Anxiety&Panic Attacks

Friday, 30 June 2017

Quick note: if you hadn't guessed already by the post title, I'm discussing anxiety and panic attacks. If you're sensitive to it, you may not want to read. I should also warn you that this is a chunky paragraph-heavy post so grab a cuppa and get comfy.
It might sound ironic but I'm actually a private person so writing about something so personal and putting it out there for all to see is quite daunting. I want to post this though. I think it's a really important subject and I'm passionate about talking about things that are more of a taboo. It makes people feel more comfortable about being open.

A Magical Q&A For #HarryPotter20

Monday, 26 June 2017

20 years ago today the Harry Potter world was born. Can you believe that? The first instalment of the phenomenal series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was released on June 26th 1997. All day I've seen tweets, news segments, blogposts and photos on social media full of people uniting to celebrate the boy who lived.

Brand Closeup: Maybelline

Tuesday, 20 June 2017

I've been meaning to start these posts from the very beginning of the year when I made this blog. I knew that I wanted to publish posts that zoomed in on specific brands that I love so I could share a little info on them and present my most loved products they create. I'm not completely sure how many I'll do or how often but they'll predominantly be focusing on cosmetic products like makeup, hair etc.

Super Simple Victoria Sponge

Friday, 16 June 2017

When it comes to baking I'm not a professional by any means but I love the process and find it so therapeutic. That being said, I like the recipes to turn out right so the simpler the better. I usually play it safe and stick to recipes I know inside out. One that almost always works perfectly is a victoria sponge. There's not much room for error. So, here's the easy peasy recipe I like to use:

Marina Strolls

Tuesday, 13 June 2017

I'd much rather be writing posts and sharing photos from cool trips to Amsterdam or sunny holidays in Greece but I can't really see that happening any time soon. For now, I'll have to do with snapping photos of my stomping ground; Swansea. I won't lie, I often hear it being described as a shithole but I guess people either love the place they grew up in or can't wait to move away. I personally love it here and although not every square inch is pretty, I have a few places that I think are lush (and quite photogenic).

A Summer Lippy For If You Dislike Bright Colours

Friday, 9 June 2017

I don't know about you but I hate super bright lipsticks. I just can't pull them off. Any pretty pinks or garish corals just make me look like I've slathered on one of those horrible lipsticks from the makeup sets you'd get as a kid when you wanted to experiment with purple eyeshadows and nail glitter. I think I'll stick to the neutrals. I'm much more of a bold eyes subtle lip kind of girl. Is that a thing?

Calm Cards For Serenity

Tuesday, 6 June 2017

I'm slightly unsure about how to structure this post to be honest with you. I'm not necessarily reviewing these so I don't actually have a clue where I'm going with this. It'll most likely be too long and rambly either way. I wanted to share these "School of Life Calm Cards For Serenity" with you and was going to just mention them briefly in a May favourites post but thought I'd rather just write an entire post about them.

3 New Skincare Additions

Sunday, 4 June 2017

I don't usually like trying out new skincare products because my skin is uber sensitive so I tend to only really use the same ones that I know don't irritate it. That being said, I feel like I've finally got to grips with my skin type and can predict how certain products will make my skin react. I have certain brands that I know I can trust and I usually stick to them. After making quite a hefty superdrug order (why do they decide to have such good sales when I'm trying to save!!) I picked up a few things for my skin that I'd heard good things about.

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

Saturday, 27 May 2017

As annoying as it may be, cleaning makeup brushes is essential. Having said this, anything that speeds up the process and makes it feel less of a chore is happily accepted. That includes the god sent that is the real techniques brush cleansing gel which I discovered a few months back. It is a LIFE SAVER. It's so much quicker than the classic bowl of hot water and fairy liquid. There's not a soap sud overload that gets stuck deep in the hairs and it doesn't take yonks to do.

Let's Talk: Voting And The General Election

Friday, 26 May 2017

Don't worry, I'm not going to get all preachy and ramble about complicated politics and tell you who you should vote for, but instead I want to highlight the importance of voting in the General Election on June 8th 2017. That's just two weeks away.

A Hidden Gem: Max Factor Creme Puff Powder

Tuesday, 23 May 2017

I think I've found my new favourite powder. I don't usually stray from my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte but I've been reaching for this Max Factor Creme Puff one every time I've worn makeup recently. Isn't creme puff the nicest name? Really rolls off the tongue (and makes me want a pastry).
It's been stuck in my draw ever since I had it for my Birthday but I used it spontaneously while I was in a rush doing my makeup and just slapped anything I could find on my face. Surprisingly it made my 5 minute makeup job look much better than the usual disaster I muster up. I haven't seen anyone talk about this so I felt like I needed to share it.

How To Make Saving Moolah Easier

Saturday, 13 May 2017

Can we acknowledge the niffler pop funko. I'm trying to channel him at the moment except I'm not stealing money just being extremely frugal.
Does anyone even call money moolah anymore?
One of my new year's resolutions was to try my very best to save as much money as possible for driving lessons and eventually buying my first car. Although all of my other resolutions were broken within the first days of January I've actually stuck to this one. Yeah, I'm shocked too.

Classic Coffee And Walnut Cake

Tuesday, 9 May 2017

I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a baking post. The past few months have been so hectic so baking has definitely been put on the back burner. I didn't even bake during Easter. Not once. Which is so out of the norm for me. Since I'm now working in a vintage tearoom I'm constantly surrounded by cake. It's unbelievably tempting but is also perfect for baking inspo and ideas. One that I've particularly liked (quite a few slices have somehow made their way home with me) is the coffee and walnut cake so I decided to give it a go and it actually turned out really well.

April Playlist

Thursday, 4 May 2017

Last month I found myself listening to a lot more music than usual. Don't get me wrong, I usually listen to music most days anyway but I seemed to be broadening my horizons a bit more. I always love discovering new music and finding new people to listen to so here are a few of my most played songs from throughout April:

Coachella Dreaming

Tuesday, 2 May 2017

Oh yes, it's that time of year again when your Instagram feed is swamped with countless photographs that make you want to burst with envy. The typical boho outfits, wacky shades, and plenty of glitter mean that Coachella is in full swing. Every time I stumble upon one of these uber cool candid photos, I wish I was able to fly out to California and be there to experience it all. Although I didn't go, and let's be real probably never will, I wanted to do a roundup of the most memorable snaps I saw from the festival this year.

5 Ways To Be More Organised

Monday, 24 April 2017

Luckily, I'm naturally quite an organised person, some may even say over-organised. I'm a bit of a neat freak and I find stationery, folders and colour coordination so satisfying. Yes, it's all very sad but stay with me. As someone who prides themselves on their organisation, and as exam time is just around the corner, I thought I'd share some tips on how you can get your arse in gear and get a little bit more organised.

My Favourite Instagram Accounts

Tuesday, 18 April 2017

I used to be completely obsessed with Instagram. More recently I've lost interest because of this new algorithm. When will they bring back chronologically ordered feeds?! In the early days of "gramming" you'd find me uploading pictures of the most random things. In fact, my first ever post was a picture of a cow with the caption #bringingsexyback (now deleted thank god). My profile was flooded with embarrassing over-posed and over-filtered selfies and too many deep and meaningful quotes. Not to mention my bio, I went with the generic "follow for follow, turn that blue button green!" But that's just how Instagram was back in the glory days of 2012. Here are a few of my fave accounts at the moment:

6 Upcoming Films To Watch This Year

Wednesday, 12 April 2017

Confession: I'm a bit of a film buff. Well actually, a lot of a film buff. I'm completely obsessed with the Marvel and Harry Potter movies and I really do appreciate a good bit of cinematography (cor that's a big word). 2017 hasn't disappointed yet with my beloved La La Land being up there with one of the best films I've ever watched, and there are some absolute gems that are coming out across the rest of the year. Here are a few I'm especially excited about:

Recently I Have Been...

Friday, 7 April 2017

After reading this style of post on Kayleigh's blog I was keen to do my own so  here's a summary of all the wonderful things I've been up to lately:

All About That Base

Wednesday, 5 April 2017

I think we can all agree that your base is probably the most important step in your makeup routine. It's the starting point on your blank canvas, the groundwork for your building structure, and how the rest of your face turns out depends on this vital first step. I definitely think that taking a little extra time on your base will make the rest of your makeup come together much nicer.

New Bookshelf Buys

Sunday, 2 April 2017

So a few days ago I was browsing on Amazon and stumbled across the 3 for £10 promotion going on and I just so happened to have a £20 gift voucher that I had for my Birthday. It was like fate so I had no choice but to buy 6 books. That's what I'm telling myself anyway. Oops. You might have guessed by now that I'm a complete bookworm. I definitely don't need more books and still have a queue of books waiting to be read on my shelf but buying brand new books brings me so much joy. Yes I know it's all very sad but there are much worse things I could be spending money on.

Chapter 17

Saturday, 1 April 2017

Wednesday was my 17th birthday (whoo!) so I wanted to write a post about how I spent the day as I think posts like this will be really nice to look back on in the future. I'm officially a dancing queen, yay!

Makeup Sponge or Makeup Brush?

Tuesday, 28 March 2017

For the past month or so I've been "going back to basics" and using brushes to apply my foundation rather than a makeup sponge. I say back to basics but when I first started wearing makeup the only tools I had to apply it were my hands. Ahhh those were the days....not. Nowadays you've got the silisponge, fingerblender, oval brushes and so many other ways to apply makeup (some people have literally used condoms).
