6 Ways To Treat Yourself This Valentine's Day

If you're like me and you're content with being a single pringle, the whole idea of Valentine's day is irritating. Some may prefer the name Singles Awareness Day, or S.A.D for short (how ironic) and I think that singles should use it as a day to celebrate the perks of being single. The sight of anything heart shaped or red with a bow might make you want to vomit, but it doesn't have to be like that. Instead, you can turn the dreaded day into an opportunity to spoil yourself with personal pampering. I mean I wouldn't go as far to say you should write yourself a card (that's quite tragic) but here are my tips for how you can treat yo self this Valentine's Day.

1. Run yourself a bubble bath
There's nothing I find more relaxing than a bubble bath. Throw in a lush bath bomb, put on a facemask and light some candles, what the heck even wap on the spa music; push the boat out. A long soak in the bath is the best way to have some you time and completely switch off and it's a great opportunity to catch up on your favourite TV shows too. 

2. Get a manicure/pedicure
 Whether I splash out and go to a salon or just do them myself, having my nails done always makes me feel good. I find it quite therapeutic sitting and painting them, even though 9 times out of 10 I make a mess of it. I have the worst habit of biting my nails, and they don't look so great when I do them, so I've recently been loving using the plain Elegant Touch fake nails and painting them myself.

3. Shop til you drop
What's better than a bit of retail therapy? Lovebirds might be buying eachother cute teddy bears or a dozen red roses but what's more fun than shopping for yourself? Whether you decide to splurge on the expensive makeup you've been eyeing up for a while or settle for some pretty flowers and an enormous box of chocolates all for yourself, Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse.

4. Enjoy your favourites
Listen to your favourite music, watch your favourite film/TV show, or eat your favourite food. You could just do them all at once, that's an option too. Perhaps you'll choose to listen to sad love songs by Adele or watch The Notebook and pretend that you and Ryan Gosling live happily ever after. Or maybe you'll decide that the best way to spend your day is to re-watch the entire box set of Gossip Girl and swoon over Chuck Bass (we've all been there). Make it a day dedicated to doing all the things you love.

5. Vamp up the war paint
There's no better excuse to vamp up your makeup than for Valentine's Day so what better way than a bright red lip, berry glitter eyeshadows and lots of blusher. Go crazy and blind people with the glow of your highlight. Forget the subtle wing, don't hold back on the liquid liner. Wear your bold look with pride and wear it for you.

6. Chill Out

Your ideal pamper day could just consist of doing absolutely nothing. Staying at home binge watching conspiracy theory videos on Youtube might be your cup of tea; I know it's definitely mine. It might also be a good idea to take a break from social media to make the most of your 'you' day (aka avoid any posts about loved up couples). You could even relax outside of the house; spend the day at the beach to read your favourite book or take some photos. It's completely your choice because the day is all about YOU.
