June Favourites 2017

Thursday, 6 July 2017

I haven't done a monthly favourites in a longggg time. February to be exact. I told myself that I'd try and upload them regularly but honestly, the months are just flying by so quickly that I either forget or don't try enough products throughout the month that are worth raving about.

This year is slipping through my fingers!! Personally, if I find products that work for me I stick to them and keep re-purchasing them for ages. Due to my inability to warm to change, I rarely broaden my horizons and test new products. There are however, a small selection of things I discovered and loved last month. Here they are:

Cappuccino Truffle Yankee Candle
I can't even stress how incredible this candle is. I won't lie, I don't have the best track record with candles (definitely didn't almost set my room alight) so I've been sceptical about buying them. When I was in Bridgend last month I couldn't resist popping into the yankee shop. My mum absolutely loves yankee candles so we bought her one but I felt like I just couldn't leave this coffee scent behind. I absolutely adore the smell of coffee and I'm obsessed with coffee truffles at christmas so this is literally me in a candle. It's not an overpowering smell but it's just enough to make your room smell amazing. Not to mention the Bridgend shop stocks the candles at a significantly lower price, so I couldn't say no.

Garnier Ambre Solaire Sun Cream Spray
Wales has been hit with another intense heatwave and my skin is paying the price. Although I've been using protective oils and sun creams my skin is burnt to shit. I've never been so sunburnt before. THE PAIN!! I put skinny jeans on this morning and my eyes started watering. My legs and shoulders are absolutely wrecked. Although I might have been too late trying this one, it has protected my skin from further burning. That or they're burnt to the maximum and can't get any worse. This is also the nicest smelling suncream ever and doesn't feel sticky which I love.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
I'm not even joking, I've had this lip scrub for 3 years. I don't know if that's gross or could cause problems but it's exactly the same as the day I bought it. There's not a huge amount left because I've been using it everyday for the past month but a little goes a long way. It tastes AMAZING (although you're not meant to eat it) and makes my lips so soft. Due to the fact I've been wearing liquid lipsticks more, my lips have gone a bit dry so this is perfect for getting rid of flaky skin and making a soft base for any lip products.

 Primark Floral Makeup Bag
I recently went to Primark for the first time in absolutely ages. I usually hate it in there. It's always rammed and there's so much stuff everywhere that I can't focus or find anything. They weren't the best for clothes this time but I picked up some cute homeware bits along with this makeup bag. I've been going without a makeup bag for so long so whenever I stay the night somewhere my makeup is just stuffed in pockets or the bottom of my bag. When in the queue I spotted this very last minute by the till (always look around the queue area) and was so chuffed I saw it. I love the vintage floral print and it feels like such good quality. Also, it was only £4 so it was an all round good find.

Morphe Brushes
Beauty Bay was being a Beauty Bae last month and had a huge sale on Morphe brushes. Praise the lord. I only bought 3 because my bank balance already makes me sob but they are truly amazing. The quality is absolutely insane. The hairs don't fall out and they blend eyeshadow perfectly. They tick every box for me. I also got an angled eyebrow brush too which is making such a difference to how my eyebrows are looking. It makes them look so precise and nicely shaped. It has one of those spoolie things too so it does a proper job.

Rimmel London 60 Second Dry Nail Polish
I'm so proud of myself for not biting my nails for over a month. Ever since I was younger I've always bitten my nails when I'm nervous and it's been a habit I've not been able to shake. In a bid to comply to all that "self care" malarky I felt it was only right to make a real effort to stop. They actually grow really fast but I've never let them get very long. Now that they're nicer I've been painting them every single day. I find I can't bite my nails with nail polish on. The grey shade is called "Little Bo Peep" and the blue is called "Bestival Blue". I don't know why but I'm so obsessed with grey nail polish. It looks so sophisticated and goes with everything. The blue is the opposite. It's loud and stands out with every outfit. It's a perfect summer staple though.

Primark Matte Nail Polish
Another thing I picked up in Primark was this nail polish in the shade "Burnt Umber". It's nude and matte (my fave combo for any beauty product) and is amazing for everyday natural nail wear. It dries insanely fast which I love because I'm so impatient when it comes to painting my nails. It doesn't chip either; As I write this and I've had it on for 4 days and it looks as fresh as when I first applied it. I'll definitely be buying a few the next time I'm in town (in all honestly it will most likely be a years time like always).

PLL
Throughout the whole of last month I was full of anticipation for the Pretty Little Liars Finale. After 7 seasons it was tragically finishing on the 28th. Although the final episode was quite controversial, stirring up confusion and mixed opinions, looking back on the season as a whole it was amazing. I was slightly disappointed and quite confused at the end game but it didn't take away from the rest of the series for me. Although I only started watching it in October last year I feel like I've been following the story for years. I became so obsessed with it all. I'm going to miss it so much!

Game Of Thrones
With Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds and PLL all finishing I needed a new series to sink my teeth into. It was finally time to succumb to the game of thrones peer pressure. Everyone has been raving about it for years but I've always said, without even watching it, that it wasn't worth the hype. Ohhh how I was wrong. I was naive. So naive. It's honestly one of the best shows I've ever watched. Yes, it's rude and graphic and gory but it's so entertaining. I'm in far too deep now. I'm so invested.

What were you loving in June?
