Picture Perfect Pier

Sunday, 24 September 2017

One of my favourite things about where I live is having the pier within walking distance of my house. You can the pier and lighthouse perfectly from my bedroom window but it's about a 15 minute walk along the promenade. Everything is so photogenic whether it's overcast (like in these photos) or bright and sunny. You've got the arcade and cute 1920's seaside themed cafe conjoined together and there are a few smaller gift shops dotted around. The cafe is so cool and has around 6 of the enormous vintage chandeliers which I think are the originals. It has such a nice vibe with a self playing piano sounding out piano jazz. It's so nice to sit in the bench booths by the window and eat their amazing sundaes. So dreamy. It would be the perfect date setting (if only I wasn't so very very single).

There's always some sort of work being done to the actual pier so the gaps in the wooden planks where you can see waves beneath your feet doesn't half make my stomach flip. Once you get to the end it's a much more relaxing experience (as long as I don't peer over the edge to the water below).
There's always a flock of pigeons and seagulls by the red life boat house but if you can't see them you can definitely hear them. It's the worst squawking noise ever and it doesn't bloody stop. One of my favourite things about the pier is the blue and white spiral bench seating that wraps right around the entire area. I can't tell you how many attempts at that photo we had because of the wind. My hair was all over the place and my eyes were squinty. Not attractive.

I went down one evening last week with family and ended up taking far too many photos. Here are just a few to show you how nice the pier really is:

These next snaps are from a completely different day, as you can probably tell by the change in weather, but thought they were too pretty not to share.
