12 Days Of Slackmas | Inside My Winter Makeup Bag

Saturday, 9 December 2017

Dry skin, chapped lips and a VERY pale complexion. Mmmm winter. Surely it's not just me who finds putting on makeup in winter plain impossible. I hate it. It's like my whole face changes and suddenly decides NOPE I WILL NOT TAKE MAKEUP. It's such a pain in the ass. My foundation just doesn't sit on my face well and the cold weather means my eyes water and my mascara ends up smothered across my face by the end of the day. Not pretty at all.
However, I do love the christmas looks that float around the blogging world and on youtube this time of year. I am obsessed with the colour red so being able to wear a bright red lip without it looking too bold on me is just amazing. Super sparkly eyeshadow is a must for me as well. It makes for such a pretty look. Here are a few must-haves in my makeup bag during Winter:

Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation

This is a fairly new buy that I only picked up about a month ago, but I'm loving it. First of all, the applicator. It's unlike any other foundation I've ever seen. Maybe that just means I haven't tried that many foundations and this isn't actually that groundbreaking but either way, I'm in love. The consistency is so nice too, not too thick and definitely breathable like it claims to be. The coverage isn't as full as I'm used to but it's definitely buildable so with a little extra concealer and powder it makes for a lovely base.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

Can you tell I'm obsessed with Rimmel base makeup? It's just so good though, and seriously good value for money. I've been using this concealer for absolutely ages and I won't be changing in a hurry. It's got amazing coverage and doesn't cling onto any pesky dry patches (god knows my skin is dry atm). It's such a blendable consistency too, not too thick and stiff like other concealers which is just what my skin needs right now; gentle and easy application.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade

I'm FINALLY getting to grips with this product. I had no idea what I was doing at first and ended up just abandoning it completely. After many youtube tutorials, I'm starting to like it. In all fairness, it's a good product when you know what you're doing with it. You definitely only need a small amount at a time because it's so strongly coloured. I can see that it's going to last ages too so the £15 was really worth it.

Lottie London Shimmer Squad Highlighter

Winter might mean my skin is dull af but highlight certainly helps. This palette has such a nice selection for different skin tones and for £10 you can't go wrong. My fave is the first square "The Good Girl" just because it's such a natural shimmer shade. I've used this one the most out of the others but they're really nice colours too and they're SO pigmented it's unreal.

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette
This palette has the most incredible range of colours, each completely beautiful. There's a mix of shimmery and matte shades which I love, each adding perfectly to a christmas makeup look. I've been using this pretty much every time I've put makeup on for the past month and I know it's going to be my go-to palette during December. 100% worth the splurge too, I can't wait to try her other products.

Seventeen Define And Conquer Contour Kit
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this on my blog before but it's so good I had to talk about it again. It's a contour product I keep coming back to regardless of how many others I try out just because the colour matches me perfectly. It's the exact type of contour I go for when I do full on makeup (this is rare though) because it's such a natural looking bronze shade not too orange.

 Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
Another trustee product I've mentioned on here before but I couldn't leave it out of my winter makeup bag. It's such an incredible mascara that makes my lashes look longer and fuller. I've probably bought about 15 of them over the past few years just because I use them so bloody much. This rose gold packaging edition made me quite excited too, so so pretty.

NYX Lip Lingerie in "Exotic"
If you didn't know by now, I love liquid lipsticks. They're one of my favourite beauty products to buy and test out. I usually go for the nude/neutral shades but christmas is such a good excuse to go a little bit crazy and add a pop of colour. I bought this one last year and used it to death so it was only right I bought another one to use this year too. It's quite a dark muted red shade unlike your typical bright red colour but it's easier to pull off everyday than a really bold shade. The NYX liquid lipsticks are so comfortable to wear too, they don't feel dry or flaky and stay on for ages.

Soap and Glory Supercat Liquid Eyeliner
I rarely stray from using my l'oreal superliner but this soap and glory one is just as amazing. I'd seen loads of people talk about it on blogs but never really gave it much thought until I saw it on offer a few months back. I was so surprised at how good the quality was. It's a super pigmented black colour and the felt tip pen has the perfect thin tip for creating subtle winged eyeliner. I'd seriously recommend it to anyone who struggles with eyeliner, it makes it so so easy to do.

Lush Bubblegum Lipscrub

So technically this isn't makeup but I needed to mention it. During these winter months my lips seriously suffer. They're always dry and cracked and flaky (yeh I know, gross) unless I use this lip treatment. It's the only thing that helps. Besides it tasting incredible (although you probably shouldn't eat it) it gets rid of all the dry skin without irritating the area or making it more painful. I've literally had this pot for 3 years and it's still going strong so I'd 100% say you should get it if you struggle with dry lips this time of year like I do.

Which products are your go-to for winter?

  1. I used to swear by the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer - it's such a good one and isn't drying on the under eyes in the slightest. I've also just got the newer Huda Beauty palette - if the first one is any comparison, I bet it is just as amazing.
