My First Monthly Subscription Beauty Box | Birchbox January 2017

Monday, 5 February 2018

Okay, so I finally caved and subscribed to a monthly beauty box. I can't tell you how long I've seen blogposts or tweets of people sharing their pretty monthly deliveries that have a collection of different products. After a bit of research I bought the Birchbox purely because their website is design goals (it's absolutely gorgeous and as a blogger I appreciate a good website layout) and because their past boxes had some really nice products and great brands. You've probably seen a million of these posts but if you're debating whether or not to subscribe to one of these this might help.

Birchbox  X OHH DEER January 2017
Funnily enough, just a few hours before I subscribed to the box I did a big OHH DEER stationery order so there wasn't a chance I wasn't going to buy this months box. OHH DEER is the cutest stationery online shop with some really quirky gifts and stationery bits. They've teamed up with birchbox this month and produced the most gorgeous flamingo print box with some uber cute stickers and a promo code for 50% off your first papergang box (a stationery subscription box that OHH DEER run). Here's what was in my box this month:

Lord and Berry Blush Crayon in Camelia (usually £15)
Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Charcoal (usually £10.99)
Parlor Shampoo (usually £16)
Paul and Joe Moisturising Primer (usually £24)
Afterspa Makeup Remover (usually £5.50)

I'm so excited to use the primer and makeup remover, I've seen so many people talk about how good they both are. Overall, I think the birchbox is fab. It's such a clever idea and I'm absolutely obsessed with the designs. I've seen past boxes and they're just so beautiful. And for £12.95 I think you get great value for money. Some are often full sized products but even for the minis you get a good amount. It's perfect if you're like me and love testing new products but don't want to jump straight in and buy the expensive full sizes. They do this personalised beauty profile where you answer questions about your preferences and it tailors the items in you box. Such a good idea.

They've got great deals on like student discount and a referral program for money off but this month I was able to get a free box as well as the Jan box. It turned out to be the August box from 2017 which was mermaid themed and omg am I happy with it. The contents were just dreamy and I finally got my hands on a spectrum brush! So chuffed. Here's what was in my August box:

Mercy Handy Cleansing Gel
Beaver Hair Conditioning Spray
Oribe Wave and Shine Spray
Spectrum AO5 Brush
LOC Eyeshadow Stick

I'd love to know your thoughts on Birchbox. Or maybe you're subscribed to a different monthly box that you love. Any excuse for me to spend money.
