July Beauty Favourites

Sunday, 5 August 2018

I haven't done a favourites post in FOREVER so I thought I'd do a big roundup of things I've been loving during the start of summer. It's been a mad month to be honest; I started a new job, did my driving test (twice lol) and finalised plans for my Paris trip in September (EEEEK). I love being busy and having lots to do but it means I blog so much less and just feel like I have zero ideas to write about. It's so frustrating but I'm trying to find more inspiration. It feels like I haven't had a spare day to just sit with my laptop and write something which really bugs me because I absolutely love doing it.

HAIR&SKIN

A little while ago I did quite a hefty superdrug order (all necessary of course so no spenders guilt) to stock up and the boring essentials. I wanted to try out a few new bits and I'm loving all of them right now so wanted to share them. Most are on sale too which is fab.

L'oreal Dream Lengths Shampoo
After I cut my hair in June I was looking for a new shampoo. I can be a bit lazy with hair products and usually just grab what's in the shower at the time but I wanted a change up. A few people told me to look into using this L'oreal Dream lengths for keeping your hair in the best condition. My hair grows so fast it's crazy (not just on my head too, it's a nightmare) and can get into really bad condition quickly because of split ends and breakage, so having something that tackles both of those is amazing. It's got Keratin and Castor Oil in it which is apparently really good for protecting your hair from damage and treating it too. I bought the matching conditioner which is just as good and they do loads of styling products as part of the range too.

Original Source Raspberry&Vanilla Shower Gel
Original source is one of my favourite brands when it comes to skincare purely because they smell insane (and actually last) while still being gentle on my sensitive skin. They're vegan friendly too and only contain natural ingredients that don't harm your skin but make it so soft. The raspberry and vanilla scent is so lush and it actually lasts ages after you get out of the shower which I feel like most products don't do.

Dove Exfoliating Pomegranate Body Scrub
After all the sun we've had my skin has been through the wars. Sunburn turned to tan then just turned to dry peeling skin. Not great. Dove is just one of those skin brands you can't go wrong with so I was chuffed to pick up this pomegranate scrub on sale. It's quickly become one of my faves and is perfect for exfoliating before shaving or tanning. It isn't too rough but at the same time makes your skin perfectly smooth. It smells incredible and even though I'm using it every time I shower, there's so much left in the pot. Well worth the money because it's lasted me ages.

Venus Tropical Razors
Shaving is such an annoying chore and I'm constantly forgetting to buy new razors which is so bad because you really shouldn't use old disposable ones. I've stocked up on these venus tropical ones which I'm definitely coming back to once I run out. They get such a close shave and each blade is cushioned with aloe which means your skin is getting moisturised as you shave which will prevent shaving rash/bumps. The handle has one of those 360 degree pivoting heads so you're less likely to nick and cut yourself in the places that are harder to reach. Highly recommend them.

Superdrug Salted Caramel Body Butter
One of the most important parts of skincare is moisturising so I go through tubs and tubes of the stuff ridiculously quick. My skin is really sensitive so I rarely try new ones but I'd heard that Superdrug's own brand body butters were good for skin like mine. I'm obsessed with anything that smells like caramel purely because it reminds me of Christmas so I'm loving this pot of joy right now. I did check on the website the other day to buy another but they've been discontinued for some reason but they do a salted caramel gel which I'm assuming smells the same.

Oribe Apres Beach Waves Spray
I got this little spray bottle from a birchbox a while ago but never got round to using it until beach days during the heatwave. It's one of the best smelling hair products I think I've ever used and it's made my hair so much softer. I usually use it after curling/waving my hair just to make the waves look a bit more natural and beachy. Only thing is the price; it's £36 which I just can't justify even though it's a really good product.

MAKEUP

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette
I feel like this is most people's reliable go-to palette purely because of how pigmented and long lasting the shades are. I haven't had this palette for that long but I can't stop using it. I love peach eyeshadows (although sometimes it can look like I've got an infection lol) and having the palette actually smell like peaches too is just insane. The palette has such a good shade range from subtle day time makeup for days where you don't want a lot on but also the going out vampy shades too.

Bodyshop Clay Foundation
I've actually done a whole post dedicated to this foundation because of how good it is but I've been reaching for it more often recently. My skin hasn't been great so I need more coverage that's doing good to my skin at the same time. The tea-tree oil in this means that even though you're using makeup, it isn't making your skin worse because it's clogging your pores with the good stuff instead. The coverage is insanely good and it dries completely matte without looking dry which I personally love.

MAC False Lashes Mascara
I never stray from using my trustee Maybelline Lash Sensation but I was feeling a bit of a change on the mascara front so started using this one by MAC. It had just been in my drawer for a while not getting any use so I promised myself I'd actually start using it. I'm a bit annoyed I hadn't been using it when I first got it because it's so good. It makes your lashes look so long it's mad. Not the best for volume or making your eyes stand out like I usually go for but it's been perfect for summer days where I don't want heavy eye makeup.

Nip+Fab Matte Liquid Lipstick
in "Biscuit"
If you've been reading my beauty posts for a while you'll know I am a bit obsessed with liquid lipsticks. These Nip+Fab ones are by far some of the best I've used because they're so comfortable and long lasting. The shade biscuit is a pink nude that is so good for everyday casual makeup. You can't go wrong with a nude lipstick and this one is no exception.

Makeup Revolution Brow Kit
After my beloved Seventeen Brows That kit got discontinued (still not over it) I had to find a new brow powder that worked for me. Thankfully, as always, makeup revolution came to the rescue with this little brow kit. It comes with a wax, 3 powders, and a highlighter all for £2.50. It's crazy. Not much else to report on this, just your typical good brow kit that does the job well and is amazing value for money. Big up makeup revolution.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish
in "Soft+Gentle"
I've mentioned this on here before but I've been absolutely loving it while the sun's been out. It's the nicest summer highlighter which catches the sun rays and makes your skin glow perfectly. It's a bit pricey but I've had mine ages now and use it all the time but it almost looks brand new. It's easily my favourite ever highlighter and has become a summer must have for my makeup bag. Love it.

Which beauty products have you been loving this month?
